My Story
Taryn was born and raised in Ottawa, and has led an active lifestyle since a young age, discovering her passion for horseback riding at just 3 years old and obtaining her junior black belt in karate at 12 years old.
After high school, Taryn obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biopharmaceutical Science (Medicinal Chemistry focus) from the University of Ottawa. After graduating, she was hired as a laboratory technician primarily focused on the development and testing of biological drug products. This is when she began to understand that she loved contributing to the health of Canadians, however working in a laboratory setting was not her passion.
While participating in CrossFit classes several times a week and continuing to horseback ride 1-2 times a week, pushing herself to her limits, Taryn began experiencing intense shoulder and neck pain on her left side, which she later learned was due to bulged discs in her cervical spine, the pain likely amplified by scar tissue existing from a neonatal surgery she obtained at 1 day old. Taryn sought osteopathic treatment as well as physiotherapy, the combination of which allowed her to heal, further igniting her passion for health through manual therapy.
In 2022, Taryn decided it was time for a career pivot. She obtained her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification and began personal training and group fitness coaching. At the same time, she enrolled in the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and completed 1.5 years of the program, which allowed her to gain extensive knowledge of human anatomy, body systems and provided her with a holistic view of the body and its ability to self-heal and self-regulate when all systems are aligned.
Unable to complete the program due to personal reasons, Taryn maintained a love for manual therapy and would sometimes help friends and family with what she learned through her osteopathic education, often asking osteopathy related questions during her own treatment sessions and remaining consistently curious about the human body. With encouragement from her osteopathic manual practitioner, Taryn completed her certification in Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), which paralleled her osteopathic education and highlighted the importance of nervous system regulation in healing the body.
As a certified Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) practitioner, she is passionate about helping clients move better, feel better, and live pain-free, and brings a client-centered approach to improving flexibility, mobility, and overall functional performance.
Outside the clinic, you can find Taryn at the gym, on an adventure with her dog Kiah, cuddling her cat Lyla or feeding her soul at the barn.
